How to Make Your Website Pages Search Engine Friendly

Would you like to build a website that will be search engine friendly? Of course, all of you would agree that it is useless spending time creating a website that would not be loved by the search engines.

Major search engines use programs which are known as crawlers or robots to index websites in order to include them on their search result pages. These crawlers or robots are designed to follow or not follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and enter it in their own database, retrieving it from the listing as people search for it. The following are just some things that you should keep in mind when building a search engine friendly website:

  • Avoid the use of frames on your website. Frames often confuse search engine robots and they might even leave your site because of that. Frames also make it difficult for users to bookmark a specific page on your site .
  • Do not use Flash movies or images in presenting important information. Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present important content in Flash movies and images instead of using textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected significantly.
  • Make sure that you use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site. This will enable the search engine robots know what that particular page is all about and whether or not it should be indexed.
  • Use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) file to design your page and call it from the outside as external file. Using redundant HTML tags like font, table, div, etc. make your pages load slowly. Putting your formatting codes into one file will make your codes clean and efficient.
