Things You Can Do For Your Website Today

Do you have a website that is old and not converting? Why not take time to evaluate your website today? Here are some things that can help you decide what to change and what to retain.

1.) Analyze your site for any broken links, non-working graphics and outdated information you have in your website.

2.) Make your text large enough to read.

3.) Make navigation easy enough for your readers. Limit your navigation to few choices. Put navigation at the top and the bottom of your web page. If you are selling products, your sales process should be clear to your users.

4.) If there are some important areas in your website, make use of tables with colors to capture your visitor’s attention.

5.) If you delete an old web page, redirect your visitors to a new updated web page which is closely related to the old one.

6.) Replace any cheap graphics you have. Poor quality images reflect a poor impression on your website while good images increase conversion. You may want to put high quality and optimized images on your web page.

7.) Make your pages load faster. Avoid blinking text, fancy web effects and animated graphics as much as possible.

8.) Do not use frames. Some search engines are not capable to index framed sites. Also, frames may cause problems when your visitors try to bookmark your site.

9.) If you are selling multiple products, make a page for each of them. Multiple unrelated products can irritate your viewers. If you are selling unrelated products, group them and make each group their own individual websites.

10.) Make the design consistent all through out. New pages should look consistent with the old ones.

11.) Let your friends evaluate, critique and review your new design before deploying it to the public. Gather suggestions through a feedback form. Study and consider ideas that you think may help with your objectives. Join some webmaster forums where web designers and developers exchange ideas on good web design principles.

You don’t need to be a graphic artist yourself to design an appealing and effective web site. You only need to put your self into the shoes of your website visitors. Visit your favorite sites and evaluate what you like about them, then look at your own site and see if adding same features or elements they have can help yours.
